Now I Have Two Candles

Hey y'all! Today was kind of crazy, thus the late email, but I can't break my streak! I am now officially 3 months into my mission (technically tomorrow)! Kinda crazy but let's get into it! Monday did not start that great lol. I woke up and realized my alarm had not gone off or at least didn't wake me up and that I was already 10 minutes late to my service site. This wouldn't stress me out too much for most of my sites but I have english tutoring monday mornings and I know that the hours I have with my student are very very important to her and that she has to do a lot to get there so I was panicking. I got there as quickly as I possibly could and was informed that she did not show up. Lowkey such a miracle for me! Ive now slept in twice on my mission so far and both times things were completely chill at my site so I'm starting to wonder if God has me sleep in when he knows it's going to be fine cause I almost never sleep through my alarm. The rest of the day was good but just chaotic. I honestly don't remember much at this point, I just remember being exhausted at the end of the day. Tuesday was pretty chill. English tutoring was fun as we worked a little on tenses. Explaining it to someone without a full common language is really really hard and thus the struggle was real. We still had some fun though and she passed off two sections we've been working on. The clinic was pretty fun as one of my favorite people came in. They understand my spanish pretty well and we're kind of besties so that was great. He's also getting sooo much better at walking and it's just so amazing to see! I then did some really fun core workouts with some of the equipment they have there. Class that night was interesting. One of the students brought a friend who basically decided they had the answers for teaching English and it was not going great. We were able to work something out so we could keep going with the curriculum but it was a tad frustrating. Wednesday was family haven and I got to see some of my little buddies. I also had comp study and we partied! I did try to dye something and that didn't go great. We made a pretty great parody of "I Wont Say Im in Love" from Hercules about PoTS so that was lit. Thursday was my laundry shift and MyHometown shift. Laundry went pretty well except that I got my favorite comment (sarcasm) "but you look too normal to be a service missionary". I know it's supposed to be a compliment but it's always really annoying to me. At MyHometown, the kids were so dang cute! One was a bit of a menace but it worked out. I also got to use my Spanish quite a bit to translate so yay! Friday at family haven was a tad chaotic. My little foster buddy was really upset and snuggly so that was a decent portion of my time there. My head was being fun though so I had to lay on the floor for a good bit and that was not the most helpful. Some wildflowers popped up at family haven though which was so fun as they're just so happy making! Going out with the hermanas was a party as always. As we were heading out, we were all laughing so hard and for so long that we had to pray in english to get through. We then tried some pretty great food (photos in album) as well as some crickets. I now know crickets kind of taste like sardines so that's something. We met some really great friends that day but a really funny part was with one sister as we were talking with her, Hna Salvador could not say her name correctly but both me and Hna Downs could which the sister then said that Hna Salvador was being more of a gringa that the two of us, which was just really funny. She also gave us some chocolate so it was pretty amazing. We also met a really great guy by 'coincidence' that was interested in our message and we are likely going back next week! I did end up popping out a rib though like right after so I minorly traumatized the sisters. Sorry about that! Saturday was great cause I slept in which hallelujah I needed that. The temple was also pretty chill. I did end up running into a sister right outside the temple who I think was hallucinating a bit but I was able to help her get some safely so that was good. It just added a slight spin to my day. I then spent the rest of the night with my bestie Sarah and some family playing games. Today, I subbed in primary with my mom. It was just chaos. One part that was extra great is one little kid came up to me at the end and, as we gave them tea lights for the lesson, said "Now I have two candles!". Yall better know that reference! At zone council, Sister Brummer made a really cute watermelon cake so that was pretty sick! One of the Elders doesn't really eat sugar and it's his birthday this week so thus the watermelon. We then had a fun afternoon as we were celebrating my sister Lauren's birthday! I baked a lot and did some massages and cleaned to help prep and all that good stuff so it was a packed day. Lauren and Omar played for us too so that was so beyond fun. I also actually did my scripture study this week so guess who's finally locking in! Scripture of the Week: 2 Nephi 22:2 "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and be not afraid; for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also has become my salvation." Love Yall!
