Im an Aunt!!!

This week had some high highs and a few lows but again, things are pretty great! Let's get into it! Monday was fairly interesting! I finally got some consistent work at UVR to the point where any time I have free time there now, I will absolutely have something to do, which is quite nice. I was also informed that I will have someone consistently every monday and tuesday morning but more on that in a second. The clinic was quite nice and I again got to practice a good amount of Spanish with general convos. English class was a mix of good and bad. One of my lovely students informed me her daughter has been deported and so her and the other student were very stressed and tired from trying to figure stuff out basically all day. It was very sad and I would greatly appreciate it if yall kept them in your prayers at this time ❤️ Class itself went fairly well though. Tuesday was pretty chill. I got to have my first lesson with that student I mentioned earlier! her English is fairly good, she's just lacking vocabulary and struggles a bit when it comes to talking about others. We had a lovely lesson but I definitely know some stuff we should work on! She has a very strong sort of french accent so that makes things a tad difficult with pronunciation but we'll get there. The rest of my morning was just smaller projects with refugee rehabilitation and cultural teaching prep but it was quite lovely. The clinic went fairly well but I struggled a bit with my spanish. I was quite frustrated until one of the volunteers informed me that the patron I was struggling with is one that even those who are fluent can't really understand so that helped a bit but I definitely still have a lot of work to do. We also said goodbye to two volunteers which was sad but they're off to great things! English class was great! It was my check in with the main teacher and I was honestly quite stressed but she said she's really happy with their progress! One of the students is going to be partially integrated back into class due to her progress and spend the rest of the time one on one while I will continue to spend one on one time with the other. It felt really great to have it confirmed that my methods are working. Wednesday is my chill day which was really nice to have. I spent my morning at family haven, which was chaos as usual, and then made some cookie dough for my comp study that night. The proscelying sisters ended up having a sick sister in their trio so I spent a few hours over there keeping her company before heading back to have comp study. As of Thursday, I am officially an aunt!!! He is so precious! I also got to go to my temple shift at which I learned that I now have a pre-mission friend on both of my shifts so that's fun! The shift itself was a little slow as very few people were coming in but I was able to practice a bit of Spanish with my friend in the laundry. I was soon switched to baptistry and I met a lovely worker who is teaching a Spanish class and was very impressed with my Spanish pronunciation. She was so kind and fun to chat with and we were able to share some tips and tricks. I learned later through another worker just how elated she was to find a Spanish speaker so that made my day. I then had a meeting with President Brown which was pretty chill and basically worked on some odd projects that I needed to get done. Friday was kind of crazy. I went to family haven and then, right as i was leaving was informed they really needed someone to come in later, which I did. 5 hours was a bit much if i'm being completely honest. I did get to see some of the kids I didn't see that morning though and that was great. I also sewed up some stuffed animals as some of them have been through it! That night, I finally got to meet my little nephew (picture in album) and my stars he's adorable! Saturday was mostly just temple shift and teaching with the sisters. My shift was a little crazy as a few of the spots I was on were just absolute chaos. Im finally memorizing some of the stuff though so yay! Going out with the sisters was pretty chill, except for the fact that all their appointments canceled right before so it was just contacting. Was still pretty nice though. I also learned that that sister we visited a few weeks ago, due to me seeing the EMT sticker and wanting to chat, was able to discuss it with the sisters earlier that day and they were able to give her an invite to come back to church, so i'm very happy for her. We accidentally crashed a stake dance as a sister needed the restroom. Most people there were native Spanish speakers and were very excited when I understood what they were saying. They invited us to dance but it was almost 9:30 so we had to decline. Pretty fun though! This week, I started reading the Book of Mormon in Spanish which is really great but also quite difficult if i'm being honest. It's helping my comprehension though and tone I think so let's go! I was also given the green light to try going out with the Hermanas, which I will be starting this next Friday. I may also be helping with a class on Thursday nights now so things are just getting more chaotic! Still pretty great though and I'm absolutely loving the work! I've got zone conference tonight so that will also be fun to see some of my friends in the other districts. Scripture of the Week: 1 Nephi 3:7 "...I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commanded them." Love you all ❤️ Sister Wynn Photos here!
