"Do you even know what cinco means? It means 3!!!"

Hey yall! It was a pretty cool week so let's get into it! On monday, I had English tutoring in the morning as usual. We've moved to 2 hours classes so it's honestly quite mentally draining but I've already seen some improvement in this last week. We made some more jokes as, if you remember from last week, there is a word she says with a really funny accent. The word is Yoga so now every time she says something in a funny way or either of us need a laugh, we just say yoga. We went through a lot of family vocab so it was pretty fun! She also had to try to interpret my drawings so pray for her there lol. I also played a bit with one of the founder's kids as he was just running around being a menace but it was fun. Only had english class that night so the rest of the day was spent mostly resting which was pretty great. English class is going well and they are set to test this week so we'll see how that goes! Tuesday was a pretty normal day with everything except that I made a LOT of buttons. I also was able to help out someone who came into UVR as they had twisted their ankle pretty badly. I can't do much in that area with my training but I was able to wrap it to provide some stability and give them the location and hours of a free clinic I know so hopefully they were able to go get some help. Wednesday was a pretty chill day at family haven. In the morning, there were like no kids so I helped to sanitize a lot of stuff again and fed some babies. Right as all the volunteers were leaving though, a ton of kids came in. Quite unlucky but fun nonetheless! I also had a pretty fun comp study which ended in a tea session and a crap ton of rain, thunder, and lightning. We were just chilling in my car but I actually had to wait to drive home for a minute because it was absolutely POURING. Thursday was my temple shift which was pretty standard if i'm being honest. I was up in the clothing area for most of it. Honestly, the most eventful thing was a piece of clothing that wasn't supposed to be there and me cutting my finger and needed to clean it a bit so that I didn't get blood on all the white clothing. I also had some lovely time with my little nephew as well and an interview with my stake president that went quite well! Friday was one of the craziest days of my mission so far, if not the craziest. We had a lot of disruptions at family haven that i'm not going to go into much detail on but everyone is safe and all is good. One really funny moment occurred though as I was watching the kids outside. One kid was being a little bit of a bully, mostly to a little girl that was there. He was just being very disruptive in basically every way he could to the point where I had to get in between him and other kids a few times. He had a very funny moment though as he was being mean to a kid for not knowing spanish and yelled "Do you even know what cinco means? .... It means 3!". In case you are not aware, cinco means 5 so i was basically just trying not to laugh at that point. A therapist ended up taking the kid back to talk some stuff out but it was pretty hilarious. I had another background check so that I can volunteer at my hometown so i'm going to take a guess that the government is starting to wonder who I am. I was also informed that, despite my very very minimal piano knowledge (I haven't played since i was 10 really), they would still like me to also teach piano there so that's going to be interesting. Let's hope duolingo can teach me that quickly! I then went out with the hermanas and it was so fantastic! We were just doing some knocking and we stumbled upon a couple that is inactive but appears to be interested in retaking the discussions! They also had some really cool fish that we stared at for a long time. They also gave us a tamarind drink that wasn't fantastic but I was able to drink all of it, which seemed to gain me some favor with the couple. They also told us about how their fish like to bite people and sister downs and I decided to test that so now ive been bit by a nemo. One thing about sister downs is that she'll poke or eat just about anything, as I had learned earlier that night when she tried to poke what I believe was a brown recluse. In good news, i'm doing significantly better with my fear of spiders! We were able to set up a follow up meeting with that couple though so that'll be exciting! The next place we knocked we thought wasn't going to go well at all but we discovered someone else had moved into the apartment and he was fairly interested in the gospel! I got to share my brief testimony in Spanish and we set up an appointment to meet with him again so I'm excited to hear from the hermanas how that goes. Both people we discussed with insisted I give the closing prayer to practice my Spanish so that was an experience, especially when one was a brand new investigator. The rest of the night was fairly uneventful and the next few people we knocked were not very interested. I had the strangest impression at one of the houses that i should give the man a book of mormon, which was really strange as he was very much not interested. He accepted it though so who knows! Saturday was my temple shift and teaching with the sisters. The temple shift was pretty chill and, when I went out teaching with the sisters, we actually had an appointment! His name is Jeremy and he's going through the lessons. We mostly discussed a story in the book of alma and talked about the ten commandments. It was a little bit funny as he is very much a swearer and he has now started to work on swearing less. He then started dropping our savior's name repeatedly which meant we had to educate him on how that counted too. Guess we'll see soon how that's going! In general, this week was very polarized when it came to how busy I was. I also had some really cool lessons with understanding how the spirit speaks to me so twas pretty great! Scripture of the Week: 1 Nephi 17:13 "I will also be your light in the wilderness; and i will prepare the way before you, if it so be that ye shall keep my commandments; wherefore, inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments ye shall be led toward the promised land; and ye shall know that it is by me that ye are led."
