Finding my footing
Hello everyone!
It's been another week so I am back! This week was really great as I was able to figure out which service sites I'm going to be serving at, do some service, and have my first two temple shifts!
So, this week started with some lovely tours to service sites I was interested in. I had those on Monday and Wednesday and was very lucky to get to go with the Brummers and some new sisters. I ran into some friends at some of the sights which was lovely! (If you're one of them, my apologies for not being able to chat. We had to keep touring.) While there were many lovely places, I have decided to serve at Utah Valley Refugees, Family Haven, and the Community Rehabilitation Clinic. I won't bore you with the details but basically, I will be teaching English and music at UVR, doing some childcare and minor emotional help at the FH, and assisting with physical therapy at the CRC. I likely won't be starting until later this week or next week due to figuring out scheduling with all of them but I am very excited. I will additionally be teaching with the sisters and having my temple shifts but more on that later!
I had a lot of fun on Tuesday with my companion, Sister Stocks! We had a lovely study session but for the majority, we sanded. She recently got a new bed frame so we sanded it down and repainted. I helped with the fine detail sanding, as she did the majority of the larger sanding the day before, and began with the painting but after about 5 hours, I thought I should probably go home. It was absolutely lovely though and I loved hearing about her interests and also learning a bit more about PoTS and EDS as she knows a lot more about them than I do!
My first shift at the temple was laundry on Thursday and it was honestly great! My trainer was quite patient and I feel I learned just about everything I need to. I have two more folds (I think) to learn and then I'm basically a pro! It was also great because I met a sister who is from Mexico and, after she heard I want to learn Spanish, she insisted she will teach me every week so we will be mostly speaking in Spanish now! I will also be teaching her some English pronunciation as she has quite good English but wants to work on her accent. My ordinance shift yesterday was also great. I learned how to do a couple of things and was allowed to go fully by myself so that was really great. I also met someone whose last name is Winn on my shift and we have struck a little joke of which spelling is better. He's quite nice so I'm happy to have found a friend! It's lovely to be in the temple, especially the Orem as its my favorite.
I very much enjoyed the 4th as well and got to party it up with loved ones which was amazing. Some other small things happened but this email is already fairly long so I'll probably end the main section here! I would love to chat with yall though throughout the week and would love to elaborate on anything if yall are interested! I'd also just quickly like to say, if you would rather not receive the group email anymore, I completely understand! Many have a lot to do so just email me separately and I will remove you from the form. I would love to hear from yall separately though if you have the time ❤️
Scripture for the week!
Luke 1: 37
"For with God, nothing shall be impossible"
Love,
Sister Wynn
